Here at Woodrow Handcrafts, we have a belief that you shouldn’t be constrained by what a designer wants to create when it comes to your embroidery projects, we believe that with investing a little bit of time each month to learning how to use your digitizer program, you wont need to buy any more extra designs.
Best of all we have a regular Janome Digitizer Version 5 class, so that you can learn instore or online at your own pace to get the absolute best out of Digitzer. Have a look at our tutorial video below on how to create some quick and easy projects on the Digitizer Ver 5.0
Woodrow Handcrafts are excited to announce that from April 2017, many of our classes will be available as both instore and online interactive classes, in our Virtual Classroom.
Log in from around the world
This will allow people from around Australia and even from around the world to join us for our amazing workshops and classes.
The greatest problem we have found with pre-taped lessons or webinars, is that it is a one way communication. If you have a question or a query, you can’t ask a question and get help.
Ask questions as we teach
We have found from our own personal experience in holding classes and workshops is that people learn a lot more when they are able to and encouraged to ask questions in class, because many times there are others in class thinking the same thing.
Download the class
Each workshop will have class notes and for software classes a video presentation of the class for download afterwards.
As an added bonus and to assist those who can attend the live session, we will be recording our workshop sessions for download after, so you will never miss any of the action in class.
All of this will be included in your class fee and will be available in new members area, that is launching soon.
Our first class in the virtual classroom will be our Simple Cut Software and Artistic Edge Cutter class on the 17th of March at 10am AEST.
Have you ever looked at you Janome MC15000, 14000, 12000, 11000, 9900, 9400, Skyline S9 or Skyline S7 and wondered what the button with the picture of a T-Shirt does?
The Sewing Applications Menu
This is the Janome Sewing Applications menu and it is the “hidden” gem that makes sewing on a Janome so much easier than any other machine.
What the Janome sewing applications menu does is it allows you to easily set up your Janome machine for things like Seaming, Zippers, Button Sewing, Patchwork, Applique and Quilting, as long as many others are included within the Sewing Applications menu and they will revolutionise the way that you use your Janome.
During the class you will make a great project that utilises many of the features of the Sewing Applications Menu, to give you a greater understanding of how each of the stitches is designed for optimal stitching and how to navigate around your machine.
This workshop would suit everyone from the novice first time user to the experienced veteran, there is always more to learn about these great Janome’s.
The class is a hands on class and will be offered as both In-Store and OnLine.
Attendees will receive
Recording of the class for latter reference and too follow along with

Lutterloh Pattern Drafting and Garment Construction, 10am-1pm ($15)
The Lutterloh system is a great pattern drafting system that takes your personal measurements and then allows you to draft your own custom fitted patterns.
The Artistic Edge Cuter is a very powerful creative tool and the SimpleCut software that comes with it is the brains behind entire operation. In these classes Katrina will be teaching how to use the software primarily, with a bit of practical cutting thrown in for good measure. Once you know what you can do with the software side of the Artistic Edge Cutter, then you can really get going with the cutting.

Janome have just reduced the price of the Memory Craft 5200 from $1,499 to $799, this is a great sewing machine for someone who is interested in creating their own garments, craft sewing, as well as quilting and patchwork.
Janome’s have lots of fun little time saving features built into them.
Take for example our focus today, the Patchwork Menu in the Sewing Applications Menu (some of you may only know it as the “T-Shirt menu), this little fella has been floating around in Janome Sewing and Embroidery machines for a while now and what it does is set your machine up for 1/4″ piecing with the 1/4” foot.
The machine then had the capability of repeating the same piecing length for multiple pieces and if you used either of the “Locking” or “Lockamatic” stitches the machine would tie off and cut for you at the end of the piece.
On the Memory Craft 10000 and the Memory Craft 11000, this was a handy little feature, but once Janome released the 12000 and then the 15000 this little “hidden” feature become infinitely more awesome.
Because with the Memory Craft 12000 Janome introduced the Automatic Foot Lift for the first time, which meant that instead of just finishing off the seam and then trimming the thread the machine would now automatically lift the foot for you.
Then at the start of the next piece the machine will lower the foot and start stitching.
Repeating the process ad infinitum until you select that you would like to do a different piecing length.
This finite improvement to the 12000, which has been carried over into the Memory Craft 15000 and now the Premium Sewing Skyline S7, means that you can now save hours and hours of sewing time next time you are piecing a quilt.
Just imagine how many times you lower and raise the presser foot on your sewing machine when you are piecing together a Quilt top.
In this video we show you how to use the Patchwork Menu with the new Janome Skyline S7.
